"You can attract more flies with honey than vinegar". You don't advance the opportunity for resolution of a disagreement through insults, name-calling, and demonization of your opposition, especially when such is done hiding in anonymity or behind a psuedonym. It only reflects the absence of any meaningful contribution to the discussion ...or childishness.

"Civility and courtesy are public virtues. Like oil in an engine, they are necessary social commodities that allow society to run smoothly". Crude behavior only invites similar behavior in return, escalating the volitily of the situation. It normally decreases and delays successful resolution of difficulties and increases the possibilities of unforseen negative outcomes; then, if not later. Reality is far too few people "forgive and forget". They merely bide their time.
